A Turning Point

Heading into the eleventh grade I was well into my cocaine use. It had escalated from Fridays and Saturdays to four or five nights a week. The quantity had gone up now to about one gram a day, from a quarter of a gram, that’s almost $100/day! I needed a way to make money for drugs, so I came up with an ingenious scheme, well, as far as I thought it was ingenious, today looking back it was the first turning point of my life. Since I was cutting afternoon classes I needed an “admit” slip to get back into the classes the next day. I forged some paperwork to get back in, got away with it, therefore realized I can do the same for other students and sell it to them.

I eventually got caught and I was put on probation meaning, I had to be where my assigned class was at the appointed time slot. On my second day of probation I had a study hall period which I honestly thought or better yet mistakenly thought it was “free” time. I did not leave the building (thinking I was doing “good”) instead I went to the cafeteria. The principle showed up to the cafeteria and came marching at me and yelling from the top of his lungs, “You’re out of here! You’re out of here!” So at the end of the fall semester in my junior year I was kicked out of high school. My parents were crushed, but for me, my long journey with depression had just gotten deeper. In two and a half short years cocaine took me from being good student and a good athlete to being a drug dealer and a drug abuser. After a while of abusing drugs and alcohol we realize that our human resources have failed us and that nothing short of God’s intervention will sustain us.

Angela and I can not begin to express how grateful we are for the 200 /$50 gifts that have been donated  so far! We have set in place a fund-raiser called 300 & 50 (please see video). We are looking for 300/ $50 gifts. We are asking for 100 more $50 gifts to further LIFEiLEAD’s Mission and  Vision!
